Meet Krista & Matt

Luckily, I (Krista) have never been one to follow old-age laws of nature (dating).

  • You’ll never meet a nice guy in a bar – False!
  • A girl should never make the first move – Utter blasphemy!

Out on a Friday night in Seattle, we met at The Ballroom where I  approached Matt.

Matt was wearing a Boston Red Sox hat and I’m a huge baseball fan so I asked if he was really a fan or just liked the hat. He defended his fandom, bought me a shot of tequila (not my first of the evening), and we danced the night away – until the clock struck 12 and his friend needed to get home (true story).

Meet Krista

My love of travel started at a young age. I should’ve known when I made my dad take a photo of me in every. single. “country.” in Disney World’s Epcot. Travel & photos have been two of my longest, strongest passions.

I grew up in the pacific northwest in a suburb east of Seattle. I lived and worked on three continents by age 22 – the U.S. (home), Spain (as a full-time student and part-time bartender), and Australia (I worked for the Australian Baseball League after I graduated college and finished seasonal positions with the Seattle Mariners &

I feel most alive when I travel – experiencing new things, visiting new places, and meeting new people! I love to dance (like everyone’s watching – seriously get me up on a bar or table!) and make people laugh. I have the biggest sweet tooth and am a sucker for sunsets. For the last three years, I worked for a major tech corporation managing social media, marketing, and events in addition to teaching power yoga and yoga sculpt on the side.

A lot of people never put their actual degrees to use, but with journalism & Spanish majors from the University of Washington (go dawgs!) I couldn’t think of a better application of my education than starting a travel blog in South America – and hopefully teaching yoga along the way. This journey has been a dream of mine for ages, and after years of planning, saving, and researching, it’s actually happening!!

Meet Matt

From an early age, I spent almost all of my time focused on sports (baseball and basketball). I had a dream of becoming a professional athlete like many young boys do and was willing to work for it. When I was my second year into community college baseball, I found out that I had a tear in my labrum and that I would no longer be able to pitch again due to shoulder surgery. Luckily, I was able to earn a scholarship to a private Catholic school in Southern Florida (Ave Maria University) to play basketball and earn my degree in Business Management.

As for traveling, I have not done much other than the occasional trip to Canada, and a couple of cruises to the Caribbean and Central America. It wasn’t until I met Krista that I realized it would be possible to see some of the best landscapes throughout the world.

I have always had a huge passion for animals, and I spend almost all of my free-time fishing wherever possible. This played a huge factor for me while planning our trip, as we are going to some of the best fly fishing destinations in the world (don’t worry, I have my gear with me!).

This all was a very big decision for me. Not only am I scared out of my mind, but I am getting out of my comfort zone to see what the world really is all about. Words cannot describe my excitement, and I am thrilled to see what the next year has in store for us two!
